The Chicago Paid Time Off Ordinance takes effect on July 1, 2024. Employers with employees performing work in Chicago (including work from home) need to ensure compliance with this new law, which requires that covered employees receive up to 40 hours of Paid Sick Leave and 40 hours of Paid Leave to be used for any reason, per year.
In this webinar, HR Source’s Legal Team will discuss what we know about this law, including:
- Which employees are covered by this Ordinance.
- Exactly how much time off must be provided and for what purposes the time off can be used by employees.
- How to implement this law, including an employer’s decision to use an accrual or frontload method.
- How to ensure compliance with requirements relating to carryover, pay out, incremental use, and notice.
- How to count employees to determine whether an employer is deemed a small, medium, or large employer for purposes of payout requirements.
- Enforcement and potential penalties of this law.
