One of the most important jobs HR professionals have is conducting internal/workplace investigations. Yet, this is an area where individuals have received limited training and learning on the job isn’t recommended. To minimize legal liability and reduce employee complaints, HR must ensure they properly and thoroughly conduct investigations. In this session, our attorneys will provide you with tools, tips, and techniques to improve your HR investigation skills and boost your confidence in handling sensitive and complex employee issues. While this session will touch on various types of investigations HR may have to conduct, there will be a focus on handling complaints of harassment and discrimination.

• How to prepare for witness interviews, including properly gathering and reviewing documentary and physical evidence
• How to conduct interviews, including questions to ask and handling difficult witnesses
• Properly documenting and assessing investigative findings
• Best practices in handling investigation results, including effectively communicating and acting upon your determinations
